Accessibility Statement

Last updated

Property tax relief disproportionately serves older residents and people with disabilities — the same readers most often failed by inaccessible websites. This site is built to WCAG 2.2 Level AA as a floor, not a ceiling.

What we’ve built in

  • Full keyboard operability, a skip-to-content link, and visible focus indicators.
  • Semantic HTML with proper landmarks, one H1 per page, and a logical heading hierarchy.
  • Color contrast meeting AA in both light and dark themes; information is never conveyed by color alone.
  • Readable line lengths, generous text sizing, and layouts that reflow to 400% zoom.
  • Reduced-motion support: animations and smooth scrolling are disabled for users with that preference set.
  • Tables with real header cells and captions; icons marked decorative for screen readers.
  • FAQ accordions and menus built on native, screen-reader-tested HTML elements.
  • No time limits, no autoplaying media, no content flashing.

How we test

Pages are checked with automated tooling (Lighthouse, axe) plus manual keyboard-only passes, and reviewed at common zoom levels and in both themes. Accessibility issues are treated as bugs, not enhancements.

Known limitations

We link to external sites — including official state portals — whose accessibility we don’t control. If a state tool is inaccessible to you, the Division of Taxation offers phone (1-888-238-1233) and in-person alternatives, and our guides note them.

Found a barrier?

If anything here doesn’t work with your screen reader, keyboard, magnifier, or other assistive technology, email help.viewsrd@gmail.com or use the contact page. Include the page URL and what happened; accessibility reports are prioritized alongside factual corrections.
