About NJ Programs

Last updated

NJ Programs exists to answer one recurring frustration: New Jersey runs the most generous property tax relief programs in the country, and yet every filing season residents struggle to find plain answers to plain questions. Which programs am I eligible for? How much will I get? Where is my payment? Is this text message real?

We publish practical, plain-English guides to the ANCHOR benefit, the Senior Freeze, Stay NJ, and the PAS-1 combined application — with every amount, deadline, and phone number checked against official state sources before publication. Our free tools — an eligibility checker, a combined relief calculator, and a PAS-1 checklist builder — run entirely in your browser and never collect personal information.

What we are — and aren’t

  • We are independent. This site is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by the State of New Jersey, the Department of the Treasury, or the Division of Taxation.
  • We never handle applications or personal data. Everything official — applying, checking status, updating bank details — happens at nj.gov, and our guides link you there directly.
  • We don’t give individual tax advice. Guides explain how the programs work in general; a tax professional can apply them to your specifics. See the full disclaimer.
  • Everything here is free. Applying for these programs is free too — treat anyone charging a fee as a red flag.

How we keep guides accurate

Every guide lists its sources and its last-reviewed date. Facts are verified against NJ Division of Taxation publications at writing time, re-reviewed on a schedule, and updated immediately when the state announces changes — with corrections handled openly under our editorial policy. The people behind the guides are described on the editorial team page.

How the site is paid for

Everything here is free to read, and there is nothing to buy — no premium tier, no paid consultations, no lead generation. The hosting bill is covered by display advertising, shown in labelled boxes and served by a third-party ad network. We take no payment for coverage and run no affiliate links, so no advertiser has any influence over a guide’s conclusions; the editorial policy spells out exactly what that separation means and the privacy policy covers the data side.

The practical consequence for you: our incentive is to answer your question well enough that you come back next filing season, not to send you anywhere. When the right answer is “do this at nj.gov and ignore everything else on this page,” that is what the guide says.
