About NJ Programs

NJ Programspublishes independent, plain-English guides to New Jersey’s property tax relief programs: the ANCHOR benefit, the Senior Freeze, Stay NJ, and the PAS-1 combined application. The site launched in 2026 and covers nothing else.

Who runs this site

NJ Programs is founded, written, and edited by Haris Shafique, who researches each program directly from NJ Division of Taxation publications and state budget documents. Guides are fact-checked before publication by the NJ Programs Editorial Team, and every guide carries both credits, a last-reviewed date, and the list of sources it relies on.

This is a small, independently operated publication, not a company with a newsroom. We think that is worth stating plainly rather than writing in a corporate voice that implies otherwise. You can reach us at contact@njprograms.com.

Why this site exists

New Jersey runs some of the most generous property tax relief programs in the country, and every filing season residents struggle to find plain answers to plain questions. Which programs am I eligible for? How much will I get? What is the deadline? Where is my payment? Is this text message real?

The official answers exist, but they are spread across program pages, PDFs, notices, and budget language written for administrators rather than applicants. Our guides put one question at the top of each page, answer it in the first paragraph, and then show the detail and the source behind it. Our free tools — an eligibility checker, a combined relief calculator, and a PAS-1 checklist builder — run entirely in your browser and collect nothing.

How our guides are researched

1. Primary sources first. Every amount, income limit, deadline, and phone number comes from the NJ Division of Taxation, the Department of the Treasury, or enacted state law — not from other websites. Each guide cites the specific sources it used, and the full list is on the sources page.
2. Numbers are verified separately. Figures, dates, and phone numbers are re-checked on their own pass before publication, because those are the details that cause real harm when they are wrong.
3. Uncertainty is labelled.Where the state has not confirmed a date or an amount, guides say “expected” or “based on prior seasons” rather than presenting a projection as fact.
4. Pages are re-reviewed on a schedule — and immediately whenever the state announces a program change. Each guide shows the date it was last reviewed and, where relevant, a log of what changed.

What this site is not

• We are not the State of New Jersey. NJ Programs is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by the State of New Jersey, the Department of the Treasury, or the Division of Taxation. Where this site and an official state source disagree, the official source is right.
• We cannot process applications or look up your benefit. We have no access to state systems. Everything official — applying, checking status, updating bank details — happens at nj.gov, and our guides link you there directly.
• We never ask for personal information. No Social Security numbers, no bank details, no application data. There is no account to create and nothing to log into. See our privacy policy.
• We do not give individual tax advice. Guides explain how the programs work in general; a tax professional can apply them to your circumstances. See the full disclaimer.
• We never charge for anything. Applying for these programs is free through the state, and reading this site is free. Treat anyone charging a fee to file on your behalf as a red flag.

How this site is funded

NJ Programs is free to read and intends to remain so. The site plans to cover its costs through display advertising served by third-party ad networks. Advertising, if and when it runs, will be clearly distinguishable from our guides, and it will never appear as disguised editorial content.

Advertising will never influence what a guide says. We accept no payment for coverage, no payment to recommend a preparer or service, and no sponsorship that would shape a factual claim. The programs we write about are government benefits that are free to apply for, and our guides will always say so. If we ever add affiliate links, they will be labelled as such on the page where they appear. Our independence commitments are documented in the editorial policy, and what third-party advertising means for your data is described in the privacy policy.
